when life hands you lemons...

make lemonade!

Emma is learning that lesson early in life... she likes lemons and has the drool and smile to prove it!! She has been teething pretty bad this week with lots of whining, fussiness and pain.. I feel for her and am trying lots of things to help her out.. some successful, some not so much!

We did have a great weekend with beautiful weather and some visitors.. we never made it to Alabama to see my dad, but Jimmy and Chad came to visit and that was a lot of fun.. We drove the "8-wheeler" all over the land and even into Lake Jennie.. We watched football on the deck and played lots of games of Catch Phrase and Uno. Emma was a doll and let Chad and Jimmy hold her.

This week we are stuck inside with constant rain and weather in the 40s.. so our heater is back on! It is ok until Emma gets grumpy! We are trying to get ready to make the drive to CS to see all the grandparents.. it is tough to pack and hold a baby at the same time.. Daniel says, then just put her down, but it is hard when she clamps her legs around me and then when I successfully get her undone and close to the ground she stiffens her legs so I can't put her on her butt.. she is not that good at standing, but is getting better with balancing on things, especially on the dogs. They are being good sports and allowing it, though!

Pigtails, puppy dog tails and pecans...

This blog is for Maw-maw, Brett Tyler & Maggie..

We hope you are having fun in Texas and missing us.. we are here in Louin and going to see Pop-pop tomorrow and watch some football!! We miss you and can't wait to see you next week!! We hope you enjoyed the Halloween pumpkin pics we sent! Emma did not like being in the pumpkin, but said it was ok for the pictures!! She can't wait to crawl over and see ya'll! Everyone loved her pigtails she sported yesterday and we got so many compliments about them!! She is now at the perfect height sitting up to have Dixie and Gauge's tails hit her in the face.. ouch! She has been playing on the deck here and trying to eat all the pecans that keep falling... it is hard work to make sure she doesn't get them in her mouth!! Have a great weekend! We love you!!

1st tooth and more...

Trying to "bear crawl" .. it isn't working really well!

What a change we have seen in Emma this past week... She is

  • finally getting her 1st tooth!!! (I am so excited that her fussiness can be related to something and her diarrhea and her low fever have a reason)

  • crawling - she is really moving now.. quickly!

  • pulling up on things, people, animals... and falling quite a bit!

  • babbling like crazy.. I swear she said "Mama"... Daniel said he didn't hear it.. but I think he is jealous it wasn't Dada first!

We are having to move her crib matress down so she won't crawl out.. and she has been eating so many new things.. soon we will be saying good bye to baby food and only eating adult food! She loves spaghetti and ravioli and all kinds of fruits.. She also loves crackers and her sippy cup!

We are so excited to be coming to College Station next weekend for a little while.. We hope to see our friends and to celebrate Halloween with everyone!! Here are a few pics of the last few days and there are of course new pics on the Snapfish Picture link!!

Our Family Pictures we took last week.. there was some good ones!!

7 months old

Born March 10, 2007 at 4:44 p.m.; 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 19.25 inches long

Emma is 7 months old today... I can hardly believe it was 7 months ago today that we were in the hospital in College Station, TX bringing her into the world.. she is so sweet and special! She has been doing so great lately.. she is sleeping well, eating great, chatting and moving too! She had her 1st spaghetti with Daniel's homemade sauce and loved it!! She also can go from crawling to sitting up by herself! On a sad note, she still has no teeth and it's not looking like they will be here anytime soon.. but that sure isn't slowing her down! We are so proud of our beautiful, little outside girl and her still very blue eyes.
at the park today..her shirt says Yo quiero a mi papa...I love my daddy!

Spaghetti time. YUM!

So cute in pink!

What child is this?...

Emma being a "bump on a log".. Isn't she soooo grown up?!!!
Emma and Mom riding the 6-wheeler...
Daddy, Emma, & the "spider gettin" stick
YUM!! Chocolate covered goodies!! my favorite ever... if anyone cares to know!
A Daddy's girl in the true sense... she did get my chin and dimples, though!

We had a great week. We went to "town" on Friday for champagne and wine and decided to have dinner at Applebees.. the best in town! It was packed and Emma was such a big girl in her highchair.. She dined on some lemons and liked them, kindof, at least she kept eating them!! On Saturday, Daniel watched Emma while I went to a Creative Memories party... it was fun..the consultant was showing us her albums she had scrapbooked... it was ALL of her husbands' deers he had killed, with cute stickers and everything!.. it made me laugh because at the last party I attended for scrapbooking, they are usually all pics of babies and family and flowers... so things are a little different here!!

Look up our new pics on the above Snapfish Link! We are hoping to have some visitors next weekend.. and go to the SMU / Southern Miss game next weekend!! FUN..

Gig 'em Ags!! What an awesome game.. and Roll Tide, and so sorry t.u.!!

Pooh Bear's last day

Gauge, Pooh Bear & Dixie (and puppies)
( I had a really cute pic of when he was a pup; that was before digitals and I can't find it.)

So it is a sad fall day because we had to put our 16 year old yellow lab to sleep.. He was the prettiest male dog I have ever seen (sorry Gauge) but wasn't much of a retriever.. He would do anything for food, of any kind, loved beer, and was quite the hunter of domestic animals (he killed the neighbors cat in front of the little girl, for example)! Pooh Bear smelled so bad, slobbered on everyone's pants, broke out of the yard on countless occasions and would hump anything that moved! He had hip dysplasia, seizures, and couldn't be bred... so you may think that we didn't love him, but we did.. He was the "albatross" around my dad's neck, and we never thought he would die.. but he needed to go!! He couldn't walk anymore, hardly see or hear, and at the end wasn't eating - and that was all we needed to know what we had to do!! We love you Pooh Bear and will miss you!! Thanks for all the memories!!

On a lighter, happier note: Emma's new towel.. I thought it looked too pretty and so white and fresh!!

Emma's new swing!
what a hair do!!

Dimples all around!!

We found the coolest park today and it is only 30 minutes away! Complete with big shade trees, nice walking path, swings, and a mini "town". We will definitely be remembering it for future trips.. We also had a buck in our backyard for the 2nd time.. so pretty to watch, and yummy to eat! Bow season has begun, so Daniel will be out in the wildnerness catching our dinner! The weather is great and hopefully will not go back to being so hot!
