A Disney Surprise!

This trip had been planned in my mind for years. I knew I wanted to take my girls to Disney before they were too old. Everyone has there own opinions on what is too old or too young for Disney. I've heard them all. But if you know me, I can rarely be talked out of something if I have my heart set on it. My heart was set. The girls would be at Disney to see the magic before they no longer believed in the magic. To me that was no older than 6. I have to say I am so happy that I stuck to my guns and made it happen!
The whole idea came about when Aunt Natalie called me to chat about Uncle Toodge's upcoming Med school interviews. She was listing all the places he was going and then came upon his Orlando interview that happened to be the weekend of their 1 year anniversary. She was going to tag along with him and celebrate in the happiest place on earth - Disney! I oohed and aahed over how I wish we could go and then and there I invited myself (and my family) to their anniversary weekend!I don't know if she and he truly loved the idea, but I just knew the timing was as good as we were going to get. Between the baby due in February, Emmaline being off school, having grandparents willing to care for Hayes, and having an extra pair of hands at the parks and airport it was perfect! So me and Natalie got to planning and our excitement was a tad overkill! Unfortunately, we never got to make our matching shirts, but we did coordinate everything we could and made it all work out! Jeffrey and Natalie did get alone time and to have a nice anniversary dinner without the Listi clan! Hayes did get to spend one-on-one time with Grandma and Grandpa and they said he was an angel! And the girls got to be completely surprised with not only a trip to Disneyworld but also their 1st ever airplane flights! After discussing details with my parents, they decided they would pay for our hotel and plane flights! It was a huge early Christmas gift from them and I don't think it would have worked out otherwise. We are so thankful we could take the girls on this amazing trip, that they could have such special time with us and their aunt and uncle and get to experience a dream! I can't tell you how many times Emmaline and Georgia have talked about getting on an airplane and flying to Disney to meet the princesses and see their castle. I am so thankful we got to make their dreams come true!We left early Friday morning before Thanksgiving from Houston. The girls had no idea we were going anywhere else other than grandparents. It was so fun waking them up early and getting them dressed and letting them open an envelope from MawMaw and Pop. They were so confused. Emmaline was in serious denial once she realized we were leaving at that moment for Disney. Georgia's 1st reaction was to the Minnie Mouse stickers and she proclaimed, "I don't like Minnie Mouse!" It was hilarious! Then she understood what it all meant and she was thrilled to fly! What a great morning for sure. I am so glad we got to surprise them with this trip. I also surprised them with some Minnie Mouse ears, which Georgia loved, and carry on bags full of coloring books, snacks, bubble gum, stickers, lipgloss, etc. I am proud to say they did great on the airplane and got their wings for their 1st flight!

Renovation Survival

How are we surviving the renovations in the new house?!? Some are wondering and asking and I want to remember all of this so that one day if we ever decide to do this again, heaven forbid, I can look back and remind myself of the things I did to survive! And the reasons not to do it again! Some key issues since move-in day:
No hot water
No kitchen cabinets/sinks/etc.
No pantry or storage
No washer/dryer connected
No internet
We set up a make shift kitchen/pantry area, set up our small appliances on a new card table we purchased. We also kept handy our plastic dishes and throw away plates, napkins and cups in our pie cabinet. So far the making of food has not been an issue really. I am sure Daniel would prefer to have an indoor stove and oven, but I don't really care.We have mostly used the grill and side burner (that has been really helpful and I didn't even know it existed), microwave, microwave oven, crock pot & rice cooker/steamer. The bigger issue has been no convenient sink to put the dishes/pots in or to be able to just pour something out or grab a wet rag to clean something up with. We thankfully have a utility sink in our laundry room, but it is around the corner so it just takes an extra minute and I still forget I can't just turn around and throw it in the sink! Here is the other sink we have been using.
Also, I am super thankful we have our new refrigerator in and a week later they finally connected our water/ice maker so I am a happy person again! I love ice..I am an ice snob for sure. We love the new refrigerator and all the space! Thanks Dad for making sure we have our appliances here on time!!Now that we finally have hot water, it has made a huge difference. Not only do we have warm showers and baths for us and the kids, but when I wash dishes they actually feel clean to me! The little things make all the other stuff bearable! We still don't have our washer/dryer connected. We are waiting on the inspector to come out and give us the go ahead that the new gas line that was trenched last week is up to code..better safe than sorry! I can't even tell you the drama that ensued over a whole week regarding a gas leak and not being able to find it!
We also had some issues with our previous landlord regarding our rental agreement. That pretty much sent me over the edge on Friday. Between the workers in our house sawing random holes in our walls and ceilings to find a gas leak using a water pump and waiting and hoping to see water damage/leak and the landlord issues, I lost it for a bit! It was too much stress for me at that moment. Thankfully, Daniel was there to help with everything and I had sweet friends say prayers that I know helped!
I said all I needed was one thing to go right that day and we had 3 things go right!! God comes through, doesn't he?!! We got hot water, we got internet back working and we got our refrigerator water/ice maker hooked up! I called it a win!
One of the down sides of no pantry..Gauge got into the flour and Crisco because it's just sitting out on a table. Usually we don't know which dog made a mess, but because it was flour and sticky Crisco and Gauge is a black dog..we could immediately tell! Kindof hilarious!
I wrote the previous part of the post prior to Thanksgiving, when we left for 10 days, and surprisingly we came home and nothing had been accomplished! HA! Well, so we did get our cabinets delivered since then, and decided on our flooring to be put in next week along with hopefully the cabinets and finishing out the walls and electrical..it's coming along..slowly..oh so slowly but surely! Here is a shot of Hayes' room. He loves his train table and his new bed from the McLeans..so cute and fits his theme perfectly! It's a great size room for him!
Georgia's room has changed a bit since E got her new bed. She wanted both beds so we are trying it. Takes up a lot of room, but again it's a big room so for now we are going with it..Now I just need to get a few things on the wall!
Emmaline got a new bed from Pop and MawMaw. She loves it and can't wait to fill all the shelves and nooks. And of course have a sleep over on her new trundle!
This in a nutshell is how we are surviving. It's not impossible but not something I would recommend with small children.
And to add to the chaos we are weaning Hayes from his pacifier..cold turkey more than weaning! After the holidays it just got to be too much. I'm over it! I will be posting more about that progress soon!!

My Thanksgiving

This year we had Thanksgiving at my mom's parent's house in Houston. It was great to see all my extended family and get to relax and hang out with them for a special holiday. My cousin Rachel decided it would be a good idea to do the kids' Christmas gift exchange since we were all together. It was so fun watching them play together, get excited over their toys and even share a little bit. My aunt Wibby bought cute gift bags for each kid with a fun toy and had a Christmas tree craft for them to do. The kids pretty much ate cookies and goldfish for Thanksgiving dinner but didn't seem to notice or mind. It is fun to have so many new little cousins around all within a few years of eachother. My cousin Rachel is due with her 2nd in June, her son Jackson let the surprise out which was pretty funny! Dan and Kendra were there with Grey, 3 and Olivia, who is now 13 months old.
Spending time with family always leads me to wanting more and wondering why we don't get together more often.
So this year a few things I am thankful for are making new family memories..like the chaos that ensued when we gave the kids punch balloons in the piano room. I am thankful for our parents and their example of love they set..not everyone has great rolemodels to learn how to love and how to show love to others. I need all the help I can get with my 4 crazy kids! I am thankful for my little turkeys..they are a wild bunch but I wouldn't change a thing..I KNOW how blessed I am.
I am so thankful for Daniel, for how hard he works for us and how much he puts in to being a loving father and husband.
I can't forget this last turkey that is still baking in my belly..this baby that doesn't have a name yet. We don't know if it's a girl or boy, but we do know that we have a place in our little family for them. We are ready and waiting!! I am loving the kicks and movements and am trying to not lose sight of the end goal. Here I am at 7 months pregnant, 28 weeks in my 3rd trimester!!Unfortunately, today I had my glucose test and failed..not miserably like I did with Georgia..I barely failed..so sad cause I expected to fail but was oh so close!! I go back next week for my 3 hour glucose test..again, not expecting to pass but who knows. I do know that this is such a small thing in comparison to major things that could happen and am thankful that we have the ability to keep me and the baby healthy!! Less than 85 days to go!!
Finally, I am truly thankful for everything in my life..I find myself in a negative mindset over the house, the lack of a kitchen, etc. and it seems to just spiral and never end. I want to show my thankful heart more because I know that what we have is a huge blessing and I don't take it for granted.
Hope your Thanksgiving was special and full of wonderful memories! Obviously there is so much more I am thankful for, but I wanted to highlight these.

A House Divided

Me and Daniel gave this flag to my parents for Christmas last year. I thought it was only fitting since the Aggies entered the SEC and all 3 of their kids attended the school...but it's funny cause we are all crazy about Alabama in my family and seem to convert those around us! It's hard not to yell Roll Tide each weekend! Did you see that game against LSU..that was so exciting!!This Saturday our two favorite football teams will take the field against eachother. The Aggies have had a great season, especially for being newbies in the SEC, and Alabama is going for it all! The National Championship game is on the line. I have to admit I am a bit torn. Normally and up until last weekend I would cheer for the Aggies..I love a good underdog story! But this season is different and Alabama needs this win to make a run at the championship so I am honestly hoping they win. But A&M is my alma mater and I do hope they do good and I will be happy when they score..I hope it's close and exciting!!
We have all kinds of A&M and Alabama gear. My kids are completely confused about who they are cheering for..especially since their colors are similar. Hayes loves to yell, "Go Aggies!" and throw up his touchdown arms!
This weekend we have another Aggie coming to stay with us..'Aunt' Gene is flying in tomorrow! And Julie from San Antonio is coming also, though she is a Mizzou fan! It will be really fun to spend a Saturday watching football, eating and playing games with our friends..almost like old times!!
This is something that I saw in a little store here..thought it was cute, but could easily be replicated for cheaper..just need a friend who can paint! And this sweet outfit may have to be purchased if this baby is a girl!!

We will put up the Reveille dog outside our house this weekend and dress up our kids in game day wear and yell like Hell at the tv! I love football Saturdays..the only thing that would be better was if we were in Tuscaloosa..where we were supposed to be..life gets in the way, right!

Daniel's shirt says 'No Frats since the beginning'. It's one of his favorite Aggie shirts!
A funny story to tell..on myself..I follow a few A&M groups/people on twitter and all this week have been reading their tweets about the upcoming game. They would say "come listen to Coach Sumlin talk about BTHObama" or "The Aggies are ready to BTHObama!" and I thought, wow, they are really open about Beating The Hell Outta Obama...but ok. I was a bit surprised that the Texas A&M twitter feed was backing that..but still ok!
Then it finally dawned on me last night..they aren't tweeting about beating the hell outta Obama, but Bama as in Alabama! I know..I know..I should've picked up on that but with all the election talk going on that was how I read it! It made so much more sense once I realized what they were saying! Either way, BTHObama!!

6 months pregnant & my funny honeys!

I love this stage of pregnancy. 25 weeks pregnant now and happy to be here! I feel great (majority of the time), sleep great and get to enjoy all the fun things of pregnancy. I am feeling the baby move all the time but the jabs and kicks aren't strong enough yet to hurt or make me uncomfortable. I am finally showing to most everyone who sees me but not big enough to be annoying..I can wear certain things and you probably just think I'm fat..my new hairdresser today never new I was pregnant and kept talking about how I need to try this restaurant for a margarita or go to this bar. But I do love my hair and will go back to her - the color and cut is great!
I am wearing mostly maternity pants, but some regular bottoms and most tops are not maternity as the maternity ones are too big.Baby is measuring around 1.5-2 pounds and is about 12 inches long. And growing pretty quickly right now!
I have gained about 6 pounds. Sometimes I feel big and other times I feel tiny. The usual for me. One reason I think it's a girl is because I feel I am gaining weight the same way I did with Emmaline and Georgia..we shall see!
I know this is most likely, for sure my last pregnancy so I am taking it all in. I don't want to wish this away. I am loving having a belly again and love seeing my tummy jump and feel this boy or girl move around.I still am on the fence about the sex of the baby. I think it's a girl and will be more surprised if the dr. announces 'it's a boy!' but I do have my moments of feeling like it's a boy.
The heartrate was 137 last time I was at the dr. and that points to a boy if you believe the wives' tales. I'm carrying lower like I did with Hayes, but it's also my 4th baby so my muscles are tired! HA! I do have strong reasons for wanting both or either I guess I should say..so I will be thrilled either way and the excitement of not knowing hasn't been as hard as it was in the beginning. I'm used to it now and ready for that surprise in February. On all my baby apps they compare the size of the baby to a fruit..so he or she isn't the size of this fig we have in our backyard, but the size of an eggplant!
We are completely lost on names, mainly because we haven't talked about them. One day we will get around to it. We don't have a choice, right?!
The girls are funny to listen to when they discuss the baby. They love to say that the baby is taking all my food so I need to eat more. They pray for the baby and offer to share their rooms with it. I know I will have 2 big helpers on my hands..and more than likely lots of arguing over who gets to hold, feed and change the baby. Hayes pretty much just ignores me when I mention the baby, so I don't think he is loving the idea!
My next appointment is the week after Thanksgiving where I will have my glucose screening. I am nervous about it, but know either way the most important thing is to be healthy.
This pregnancy is going by pretty fast with the holidays and fun time of year, but I'm more ready to be pregnant than to have a new baby right now. I have a lot to figure out before the arrival in February. Here are some funnies from my honeys:
Georgia talking to a fireman at her school, "It's ok if we have a fire, we have a new house we can go to!" - while we were still in the rent house.
Emmaline had a make up dance class from a school holiday and when I picked her up she was pouting and told me in disbelief, "You said it was a makeup day but we didn't get to put any makeup on today?!" She was a bit confused about the words make up and makeup that you wear!Hayes brought me his sandwich meat from his lunchbox and slapped it on the table and said, "Meat, eewww, NO!" and walked away.Emmaline said while driving her Jeep, "We have our seatbelts on so a police won't come and steal my baby." - her baby being Hayes!
Georgia to Hayes, "Do you love Jesus?..Yea!!..then we get to go to Heaven!"
I showed Georgia a picture of a cute puppy Daniel was holding that he sent me from when he was hunting and she said, "Did Daddy shoot it?"
Speaking of Daddy..Daniel told me last week, "I am just now really realizing your pregnant now that you're bigger. I guess this is really happening!?!" Ya think!!
wah wah..
