Lambs of God graduation

This year Georgia and Hayes attended the preschool Lambs of God. We have absolutely loved it; the homey, small class sizes, the wonderful, caring and smart teachers and the sweet friends we have made. Both Georgia and Hayes have made good friends and constantly talk about their teachers and fun things they love about their school. Hayes tells me how much he loves Ms. Tarin and Ms. Becky and loves circle time and art time. Georgia loves Ms. Christine and Ms. Lisa and always wants to invite them over to our house to play! We did just that the night of their 'graduation'! Unfortunately, I made the extremely tough decision to take them to a different school next year. Between teachers leaving and the school's future being unknown, not to mention the huge difference in hours compared to Emmaline's school, I thought it would be best for our family. Who knows, we may be back in the future!
The kids had their graduation where the teachers talked about each child and gave them awards. We didn't really know what to expect. Emmaline said, "oh, I bet you'll get a trophy!" Yeah, thanks for putting that into their heads...

Hayes received the "Happiest Smile" Award for his class. Ms. Tarin said: "When I think of Hayes I think of his happy smile especially when he comes into the classroom in the morning. Hayes loves the songs we sing and often puts in requests for his favorite songs and books. He especially loves our color songs and books and the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Hayes also loves eating snacks and his lunch!" I love hearing about what others find special about my kids. I have to add in here that Hayes had a wonderful year, loved going to school, would run in with a smile and never had any issues in class...that is until the last week! For whatever reason the final 4 days of school were rough for him. He wasn't mean to anyone but he would not do what the teachers asked of him. They said it would take him 15-20 minutes to finally decide he was ready to transition to the next thing or clean up, etc. Then Tarin told me she got so scared because he found a plastic ring on the playground and put it in his mouth and wouldn't take it out. She took him inside and talked with him about it and finally after 20 minutes got him to spit it out.
So after she tells me how rough his day was, since he is 'never' like that, we discussed possible reasons, things to work out, etc. On the way home I asked Hayes about everything and what he would have done if he swallowed it and he replied, "I would just poop it out!" Well, ok then..how does he come up with something like that??? We had a long hard talk and I am happy to say the rest of the week was much better..not perfect but better. And he gave Ms. Tarin lots of hugs before we left the graduation. We will miss her!
Georgia received the "CEO" Award for her class. I loved hearing this and I think Daniel loved hearing it even more. She is a go-getter for sure. Ms. Christine said: "Georgia is the decision maker of the class! She is a natural leader. Georgia easily orchestrates free play time. She'll have everyone playing puppies in no time...and they will each have an assigned role. Georgia easily makes friends as she always has some adventure in the works. As a student, she is efficient and thorough. I love you, Georgia!" Christine also was telling me about Georgia reading in class and how her hand-writing has gotten so much better. G went through a long phase (and still struggles with it) of grasping her pencil the wrong way. I was really happy to hear that she is putting her learning to good use and interesting in reading..the beginning of the year she had no interest in this..so babysteps are working! We are so thankful for these teachers who love our children like we do! It has been a wonderful year for everyone. Also, Ms. Christine is leaving this school and moving to St. Alban's to teach 1st grade, so she may be Emmaline's teacher next year..I am really hoping so!!

Memorial Weekend 2013

The drive to North Padre Island, in Corpus Christi, from us was exactly 2 hours which is nothing..so we made the easy drive! For our Memorial weekend this year we decided to go see our friends, the Paynes, who moved onto North Padre Island, outside of Corpus Christi. They bought a new house and were finally settled in, so we knew it was a good time to visit! The house is decorated beautifully and so beachy..I loved it! Julie, our goddaughter, is a September baby and born smack in the middle of Hayes and Georgia. The kids all really got along and had a blast playing in their mini pool and the cool double slide they bought. It is so big and perfect for the kids. I wish we had one sometimes!
We arrived on Saturday and immediately began playing in the water. It is great catching up with the Paynes and just relax while the kids play. Julie has every great toy on the planet and she has 3 dogs and 1 cat that the kids love. Georgia and Emmaline loved and fought over their new puppy, Chloe, every chance they got. We snacked, ate fajitas, and made homemade icecream with all the toppings. Alana and Derek are expecting their second baby in November..another girl named Aubrey.

Emmaline's Kindergarten year!

Here are some of the pictures from Emmaline's Kindergarten graduation, field day, performance, Easter party and field trips. Her teachers were so sweet to send me pictures when I couldn't be there myself! There were 2 teachers, Ms. Brooke Newman and Ms. Randa Staton, and 14 kids, 6 girls and 8 boys!
Her last day of school!!And her first day of school!Sidney wore her St. Alban's t-shirt they gave us when she was born to field day..she was a big hit and so adorable! The Kinder building, the Dent building, is being completely torn down and rebuilt for next year so they got to paint the walls, floors and cabinets, windows. A 6 year old's dream!! Daniel and I couldn't be more pleased and in love with the school and church. Also, her teachers have become friends and have set the bar extremely high for all her years to come!

Dance like nobody is watching...

Emmaline had her 1st dance class this year. It was through the company My First Dance and her teacher Ms. Madeleine was wonderful with the kids. She had her Spring recital recently and it was fun to watch, to see her excited and with more confidence than in the Fall. They did a dance to Waltz of the Flowers and a more fun one to Cotton Eye Joe with pink cowboy hats. We were thankful that Granddad Sam could make it to her performance as well. Both Daniel and Sam brought flowers which was worth all the shyness she had to get over. Georgia was a little jealous she didn't have any flowers, but Emmaline was sweet and eventually shared with her. We all went out to dinner at Emmaline's restaurant of choice, Roadhouse, and had a yummy but wild dinner. 2 year olds these days are a bit crazy...one second they are happy and the next crying under the table..?!
I am so proud of Emmaline and happy that she enjoyed dance class her 1st year.
