Parks & Rec

The weather has been beautiful here and we have taken advantage of the Springtime we are having! We have been hitting the trails and crossing bridges and having picnics in the park. Santa Ana state park was one we visited recently and would like to go back again soon! We finally made it to the local nursery, Grimsels, and had a great time. The kids loved seeing the birds and parrots they had and ran through the 'secret garden' and we bought lots of things to plant. while we were out of town for Spring Break Daniel was busy building some things in the backyard. He did a really good job and it looks great. Can't wait to see how the koi pond area turns out.
and of course, Sidney has an adorable array of Spring strappy, flowery dresses!

Hayes and Sidney being cute at the soccer fields. He is such a good big brother to her!

Dr. Seuss, 100 days, Girl Scout cookies & 1st glamping trip for Emmaline

Emmaline celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday at school. They dressed up as Thing 1, Thing 2... and had green eggs and ham and read books to the preschoolers. It was cute and I think she had fun! Making that skirt was not as fun or simple as I imagined..it was really time consuming. I would do it again, but so glad I never decided to make a dozen for a birthday party or something. Emmaline celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up as a happy 100 year old lady! It was really cute to see all the 1st graders in granny clothes! It has been Girl Scout cookie time and we have attended a few booths, walked the neighborhood streets, called friends and set up our own booths at Discount Tire. We are cookied out. I am proud of Emmaline. She bravely put herself out there, asked for sales on her own and managed to sell a little over 300 boxes! Way to go Emmaline! St. Alban's had their open house during the day this year so you could see the classes in action. It was a neat way to have the parents become more interactive with the kids and teachers. Sidney loved the glue stick pail! They also had a lunch for the parents where Sidney got passed around and had a blast being loved on!

Emmaline had her 1st weekend camping trip with the Girl Scouts recently. We missed the fall camp out because Sidney was still nursing but made a point to attend this one. It was better because we had a huge cabin with bathrooms and a kitchen..so we called it Glamping {glamorous camping}! We headed out on Friday evening. The girls had a spaghetti dinner and then the park rangers came and talked to them about owls and other night animals they would see on their hike. After a fun night of girl talk and running wild we woke up early Saturday morning to a busy day of Girl Scout activities. The girls earned their patches, made a bird house, decorated animals masks and other various activities. In the afternoon we had another, longer hike led by the rangers. Each girl had a badge and earned stickers for the different animals and plants they saw. It was lots of fun. After a full day the girls were tired! We had s'mores around the campfire and then put on Frozen on the projector and they all fell asleep in their sleeping bags. It was a great weekend and I know Emmaline will remember it forever!!
