Titled: "What was I thinking??"

After a beautiful day at the park..Landa Park..one of our favorite places to visit..where we ate a picnic lunch, spent an hour swinging "higher", raced down the slides, doing forward rolls, and even used a gross potty...it was time to head home in hopes of a nap..in their beds, not in the car..
I decided one way to keep the girls awake a bit longer would be icecream!

I mean, is there anything better than icecream in a warm car with the sun shining on you??

What was I thinking??
an Oreo Blizzard split in 2 cups, each with a spoon..a long spoon I might add..Georgia kept gagging herself with!
What was I thinking??
dripping sugar in carseats for 30 minutes while watching an episode of Clifford..
What was I thinking??
tired toddlers that started to get that glazed look on their faces after a few bites..
What was I thinking??
a sticky, white mess on the buckle and straps from a 16 month old who is now using the empty cup as a shoe..
What was I thinking??
an almost empty cup stuck between the legs of a passed out 2 year old..who was relatively clean after it all was said and done..
What was I thinking??
arriving home and beginning to undertake the clean up process, using an uncounted number of wipes on little sister's entire body, big sister wakes up from the squeals and in a fog says, "Where's my icecream? I want my icecream!"
So I guess I was thinking that they would love it..and that the mess wasn't that big of a deal..and that I would get a bite or 3 of a Blizzard..and hey, they did take naps in their own beds that day, but so did I!

I love it when a plan comes together!!

Run, girl

Georgia is changing so much these days. Her hair is long enough for pigtails and different styles but she usually rips them out pretty quickly. She also has natural curl to the back of her hair..I love it and can't bear to cut it..I am hoping her mullet evens out soon!! :)

She is saying and mimicking lots of words and phrases, like Sissy, hot, That mine, No, nack - snack, milk, cacker - cracker, candy..

She also started running! She is hilarious when she does..the first time I saw her run was when I was in the kitchen with Emma..I asked her if she wanted a cookie (a Nilla wafer..their new fav!) and like a flash Georgia comes barreling around the corner with her arms stretched out saying "me..me"..and since that moment she has not stopped running!! She has pretty good balance on unlevel ground, but she still has plenty of bruises to show for herself.Another thing she loves to do is point out noses and blow her own nose. "Nooose" - long O sound.

She can also point out eyes, toes and just discovered tongues again.

She will clean up with the clean up song.."everybody do your share.."She has 6 teeth finally, 4 on top, 2 on bottom.

Most exciting for me, is that she is finally on whole milk..she was having digestive problems (diarrhea) when she drank reg. milk..any other milk product was fine, though..so her new dr. here in SA told me to slowly give her whole milk & formula, and just fight through the diarrhea..which may take up to 2 weeks for her body to get used to it..It worked!!! Now I did try it before that way, but never stuck it out for 2 weeks..so I was really excited that it finally worked and her system seems to be fine!!! YEA!!

On a sad note for Mommy, she is transitioning to 1 nap/day..it is messing me up! Tiresome, but luckily because of MDO they are used to napping at the same time so that does help!

She loves to take her clothes on and then gets frustrated when she can't put them back on..shoes are her favorite item to do this with. "Choooo" - shoe! Her new "thing" is that she puts her hands in the back of her pants and walks around like that. It is frustrating..how do you tell a 16 mo. old that is not appropriate! HA!

She loves to go into Emma's room and open her drawers and take out everything..then she eventually closes her fingers in the drawers and cries.

She is pretty comfortable with whoever she is left with, babysitters, MDO teachers, church, Bible study..she is always smiling and enjoying herself. She still loves her pink Taggie blankie (refers to it as "B" like her sister).

One last story, at the end of baths, E was already out, and I was trying to get G to stand up so I didn't have to bend all the way over (lazy, I know). She scooted all the way to the drain and covered it with her bottom. Then I would put my arms out to her and say let's get out. "No" and shake her head furiously. Trying to entice her I said "you want a cookie with Sissy?". She shook her head and said "No cookie" and would just bob around in the water. It was so cute. And I had to eventually bend over and pluck her out of the bath!

*the t-shirt she is wearing is an old Aggie one of her daddy's that Grandma gave to us. Georgia even picked it out to wear today.

4 years ago today..

almost at this exact hour..
Daniel and I were married..
in Cancun, Mexico..
with our closest friends and family standing up for us..
celebrating with lots of champagne, beer, wine..
music and a Brazilian-style Steakhouse reception..
it was windy..
really windy that day..
My dad woke me up early that morning (or at least it seemed early after the fun Bachelor/Bachelorette outtings we had the night before) to tell me that due to the whipping wind, we would probably have to move the ceremony from the beach to the gazebo..I didn't really believe him..
I had to check it out for myself..
indeed the wind was causing the sand to pelt your legs, face, any naked body part..
it hurt..
I was sad..
But I loved my guests and decided to get over it and told the coordinator to do what she had to do..She was great, by the way, she did it all..
I pointed to some flowers I liked in a book and that was just about all I did to make it happen..
other than get out of the pool (with A LOT of nudging) so I could get cleaned up and dressed before I walked down the aisle..
the amount of hours we spent in the pool were greater than all other activities combined the whole trip..
even sleeping..
thanks to their many swim-up pool bars..
Oh, how I love the Riu..
and it's all-inclusiveness..
Daniel, please take me back..
soon..
with our friends and family..
but not to renew our vows..
I get too nervous..
remember how I giggled through the ceremony..
and I feel they are still fresh in my mind..
don't you??

Roll Tide Roll

We loved every minute of this season with the Alabama Crimson Tide!!
My dad is from Bama. I grew up in CS cheering on the Tide, not the Aggies. We would make big signs painted on sheets and hold them up in the stands and cheer. I was even on tv back in my younger years holding up one of those signs at Kyle field. I wish I could find the picture! Reveille supporting the Tide
So this season has been so exciting and fun..yes, I still love my Aggies, but am glad to have another team to support and cheer for..one that does well on a regular basis makes it even better!Emma told her Texas teacher "Roll Tide"
Emma's 1st football game was a Bama game when we lived in MS and has attended more of those tailgates than Aggie ones to date!
We had a party and celebrated with ourselves..because everyone else there was a Texas fan..whatever..posers ;)! The house was decorated in Crimson, candles, chili, pomegranate champagne, red hots! I also put pics up of us at different games we have attended! It was very festive, if I do say so!gearing up for the game
SOOO I have to say that when Colt got hurt I was disappointed..I wanted Bama to win and have noone say that "if.." I honestly think that we would have won if he played or not. They would have stepped up to whatever they were confronted with. It was their time to shine and congratulations to them..

I am proud of the Big 12 for hanging in there too, though! "I'm behind Bama all the way!"

Our Christmas party

My good friend, Leslie, and I threw a Christmas party earlier in December. I am just now getting around to posting some pics. It was a great time..she hosted it.. and we had the kids (our 4) have a sleepover at our house with a babysitter.

The kids did great, according to the sitter, and slept ok..Emma and Ainsley in the same bed, Britton on the couch and G in her crib.

Daniel and I decided to be responsible and stay at their house overnight, so we wouldn't be driving and drinking. Whoever came was asked to bring their favorite beverage, so we had a ton of different concoctions to try! Pomegranate champagne, caramel apple martinis, beer, wine..you name it, we drank it..and drank it and drank it and drank it!!

That was also the night Bama beat the hell outta Florida..yeah, I know that is an Aggie yell, but hey, I'm an Aggie lovin' Bama fan!! And yes, we are having a party on Thursday for the National Championship game in Pasadena..where I should be instead...don't want to talk about it.

Anywhoo, drinking, dancing, Catch-phrasing...fun times and fun people!! Love my new friends in SA..so here's to a New Year (decade) with great new friends and new things to come!!

Cheers!

Dixie is 10 today

My Dixieland Delight is 10 years old today!!

I can't believe it has been so long and that she is really that old. I think she is handling her age wonderfully..she runs and barks and keeps up with Gauge (4 years her junior) well!

They loved going to Louin this past week with us. They ran by the 6 wheeler as we drove, barked at country dogs, played in the creeks, slept by the fire, ate leftovers and did awesome in the car! Dixie has been my baby since I was a sophomore at A&M. She kept me company long before I had a husband. She kept me safe and most importantly feeling safe each night in my home as a single girl and on walks together!
Dixie is a loud barker and usually scares people and I love her being my guard dog!
She has had 4 litters of her own and cared for them wonderfully. She is a patient and loving momma.

I love my Dixie dog and am so thankful that she has been with me for 10 years through all the ups and downs of life..a wedding, moving and babies!!To celebrate today, she had a bone and we headed to the dog park to run and play in the beautiful weather. She even got pampered with Emma and all her blankets!
