celebration in South Padre Island

We headed to Padre for a long weekend to celebrate lots of birthdays..namely Miss Georgia girl's 1st, Daniel's 30th, my dad and Uncle Carlo (Daniel's brother). It was a perfect weekend!

We left early Friday, during the monsoon that had ensued a few days earlier and continued almost all the way to the island. It was a rough ride as I was sitting between the 2 girls' carseats in the back and my parents were blaring their book on tape..I thought we would never get there..it was a far cry from my last trips to Padre with my friends on a roadtrip to Spring Break.

We get there late and take the girls swimming and eat a quick dinner poolside. After the girls went to sleep Daniel and I headed up to the Quarterdeck bar..while my mom stayed back to watch the girls..live music and good company looking out at the ocean!

The next day we got ready for the birthday celebration. Granddad Sam had gotten us a spot at Amberjacks, where they catered to our every need..they let G smear cake all over herself, the floor, the highchair, the wall..you name it! The cakes were great and many thanks goes to Sam & Juliette for getting them for us. morning of her big day!!

The day was long, but wonderful. While the men went off dove hunting, we hung out at the pool and the girls were in heaven! Poor G was so tired she almost fell asleep in the pool. Naps were had by all. The boys returned dirty and smelly but with lots of birds..and Gauge even got to go and retreive them!

That night we returned to Amberjacks where they cooked the dove and they were amazing!! The girls were exhausted but did ok and the Sangria was flowing. The little & older girls went to the hotel and the rest of us partied at Wahoos and watched more football! It was a relaxing end to a long day.
